QUALIFICATION

Doctor is a Pro-LGBTQIA+ Psychiatrist who graduated from esteemed institutes like Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Manipal for MBBS, and KS Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) Mangalore for MD in Psychiatry. He has a total of 6+ years of experience till date as Consultant Psychiatrist at District Mental Health Program (DMHP) Gadag, Dr. Chandramma Dayanand Sagar Institute of Medicine Research (CDSIMER) and practice at multiple corporate hospitals catering to both urban and rural populations. He specialises in providing mental health services to a variety of psychological and psychiatric conditions to all age groups and gender.

 

He provides mental health services through detailed structural assessment of the condition, psycho educating patients and their caregivers of specifics of their condition along with sharing relevant education/ self help material, planning medical and non pharmacological interventions. He is experienced in areas of mental health conditions of child and adolescents, adults and geriatric psychiatry along with de-addiction services. He is an expert in stress management among several other life skills. He is also an orator who has conducted over 40 mental health awareness programs.

  • Managing OPDs with attendance of around 70 to 90 patients daily with wide variety of cases, both from urban and rural areas.

  1. District Mental Health Program, Gadag:

21 months of work experience as Psychiatrist in District Mental Health Program Gadag between August 2020- April 2022.

 

Achievements in District Mental Health Program:

Team management for effective functioning of Mental Health Program.

(Team included a Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, Psychiatric Social Worker, 2 Nursing staff, Field workers/counsellors, 1 vehicle with driver and Group-D worker).

  1. Planning and scheduling daily visits to various scheduled and unscheduled visits.
  2. Detailed assessment of all patients with holistic approach.
  3.  Treatment plan for all patients including psychological and psychosocial managements.
  4. Regular periodic follow up of all patients.

 Additional services initiated in DMHP:

 Helpline number for District Mental Health Gadag:

Took initiative to launch a district level 24*7 helpline number (9483488107) in September 2021 with WhatsApp and Telegram facilities with the intent to provide easy access to Mental Health services within the district, especially for Tele-psychiatry (reviewing treatment progress, recommending alterations in ongoing treatment in case of emergency, sharing Information and Education materials (English and Kannada) relevant to the case.

All helpline calls were managed by self.

 

COVID-19 Tele-psychiatry:

A screening module and referral system to assess patients that were COVID-19 positive over phone was developed. Facilities included screening for mental health disorders, counselling over phone, referral to Psychiatrist for detailed assessment and management plan through Tele-psychiatry and also facilitating drug delivery at door step with the help of field workers.

 

Awareness and training program

More than 40 awareness programs for groups of 30-50 per batch for total of 2500+ participants consisting of Doctors (MBBS, AYUSH), Nursing staff, Counsellors posted in several departments, School Teachers and Students, Police Officers, Railway Hospital staff, Health and Family Welfare Office staff.

Guest speaker in multiple awareness programs in collaboration with other departments of Health care and Education sectors.
